How to Prepare a Building Safety Case for Higher-Risk Buildings

The Building Safety Act 2022 requires the Principal Accountable Person for higher-risk buildings to prepare and maintain a Building Safety Case demonstrating how building safety risks are being managed.

A Building Safety Case must include: a description of the building, identification of building safety risks, an assessment of existing safety measures, details of the safety management system, and evidence of resident engagement.

Key steps: gather all existing building information, commission surveys, identify and assess risks, evaluate existing measures, develop a safety management plan, engage with residents, and compile evidence.

The Building Safety Regulator will assess the case and may request additional information before issuing a Building Assessment Certificate. Regular reviews and updates are required.

Custodia provides a structured framework for building and maintaining Building Safety Cases, with integrated risk assessments and document management.
